Quebec Camp Day 5: skate technique, warmer temps, and more snow

After two days of cold-snow skiing, the warmer temperatures make the snow feel exceptionally fast. It was real hero-skiing in the morning, with fresh groomed corduroy and lightly falling snow. We did a section of skate technique with one pole and no pole drills: shin angle being the emphasis of the day. Then we headed out for a distance ski as the snow kept accumulating on the trails.
In the afternoon a portion of the team previewed the time trial course, a series of rolling transitions featuring a long fast downhill and a longer steady climb to the finish. We won't have any outside competition, but the team is still psyched to try out their race speed. The tracks may be a bit soft from the new snow, but race temps are a perfectly fast 25 degrees at start, so it should be a good trial!

Caleb cuts lemons: with each set amount of money spent at the local IGA a shopper is rewarded with a bag of limes and lemons. Since our team has bought an AMAZING amount of food there, lemons and limes have become a staple part of dinner via an array of drinks and desserts.

After a fantastic dinner of veggie and beef burgers, home fries, gourmet nachos, and salad, the boys whipped up some sweet crepes for dessert, inspired by an afternoon trip to Quebec City and a visit to the local creperie.
