Switzerland Adventures

After an amazing week of skiing in Norway (an estimated 350km!) a few of us headed further south for a week of fun in Central Europe. Eli Hoenig, Vanya Rybkin and I were lucky enough to be able to stay with Elena Luethi and her family in their bucolic hometown of Chateau D'Oex about 1.5 hours East of Geneva and right in the heart of the Swiss Alps. It was a fantastic week that included a lot of backcountry skiing, wood splitting, great food (tons of amazing cheese!) and exploration of the Swiss countryside.
The amazing view from the Luethi's porch

Elena and Eli enjoying the Sun, it was 60 degrees everyday!

Elena at the summit the first day, she was our expert guide.

Eli preparing for the descent.

A little out of order here, but this is the ascent to the peak on the first day. The snow was a bit skied in, but the weather made for a soft snow that skied great.

Summit on the second day, looking back at the peak we skied the day before (tall skinny one).

The group at the summit.

Eli and Vanya soak up the descent (we skied from the ridge all the way in the back).

Ended the week with a view of Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps from Elena's Grandmother's hot tub.

NORWAY TRIP

The entire team spent the first half of spring break in Sjusjøen Norway. I'm not really sure how to convey how amazing the trip was. I'm hoping some of our current team members will chime in during the coming weeks. IT WAS THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME! Here is one picture that sums up the conditions. More to come soon, I'm sure as we get settled back in to Williams campus life!
