Racing at last in Anchorage

After the sprint race was postponed for two consecutive days due to cold weather, the races were underway today with a 5km/10km Skate race on what was originally the 5km classic course. Though the temperatures hovered at or below zero, balmy considering the past few days, today there was a wind, so the temperature didn't feel much warmer, at least to this skier.

Alice Nelson '10 finished 65th with a time of 17:08, 2 minutes and 20 seconds out of the lead. Fiona Worcester '09 finished a minute behind Alice in 112th, with a time of 18:09, 3 minutes and 20 seconds back. David Hansen '11 came in 177th with a time of 32:20, 8 minutes back.
Future Eph skier Christina Knapp ('13!) finished in 119th place with a time of 18:19, 3:30 out of the lead, 10 seconds behind Fiona.

Tomorrow's (Tuesday's) race is still up in the air, awaiting an announcement at the coaches meeting at 7:30 pm tonight- it will be either a 5/10km classic or a 10/15km classic.
The sprint race is tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday.

No race photos- but isn't it beautiful?
