A Little Bit of Awesome

A Little Bit of Awesome
The day Phil and I set out to hike the Presidential Traverse started off like any other day, namely, that Phil couldn’t find something. After we worked out that bit of déjà vu, we set off, and were joined shortly after by Phil’s man friend, Paco DeFrancis. We left one car at the south end of the traverse, and began our hike from the north on the Valley Side trail.

After navigating our way over some small streams, we cleared the tree line and reached the summit of our first peak, Mt. Madison. Although clouds were surrounding our view of the valley, we got some pretty sweet views of Mt. Adams and the ridge.

As the day continued, the clouds continued to roll in, and by the time we summited Mt. Washington, visibility was reduced to about ten feet. Although the summit was a bit of a disappointment, we did hear about the legendary "flasher" who roams the range all summer, as well as the crew of motorcycle drag queens who frequent the summit.
After hearing that, we decided to move on, and made it to the Valley of the Clouds hut for a brief lunch before continuing on. We then created Monroe, Franklin, Eisenhower, Pierce, Jackson, and Webster before finally making our way down an incredibly steep path to our car.

Our trip, however, could not be complete without a stop at the Golden Arches fine dining establishment for a post workout meal. There we pioneered the super-super-value meal, downing 2000 calories each for a mere $8.
