Supertour Racin' and Final Week of Winter Study

As Winter Study wound down and spring semester loomed ahead, some people had big papers to write, some had people to interview, others had bread to bake this past week (Syben.)

I would love to have a picture of Dylan's bread for you but, unfortunately, he is not answering my text at this time. This is not, in fact, Dylan's bread, it is a picture which I found online of sourdough bread, the variety which Dylan made for his Winter Study independent project. Hopefully this image gives you some idea though.

This past weekend some of the team headed up to Lake Placid with Gerry and Jay for the Supertour/Eastern Cup that was held there. Those who weren't racing stayed on campus and got some good relaxing training done after classes ended.

Andrew Hull in the open sprint heats at Lake Placid

Sonya Jampel in the open sprint heats
Siri Bohaceck getting second in the Junior heats (to a Canadian, so basically first)
Franklin Reilly in the 15k classic mass

Henry Mcgrew in the 15k classic (Isaac getting whooped up on in the background)

Ingrid Thyr in the 10k mass classic

Isaac FE in the 15k classic mass

Isabel Lane in the 10k classic

Lucy Alexander in the 10k mass

Woody lookin' cool

There was also a 10k individual start skate race which we have no pics of due to the fact that the team photographer and the man responsible for these shots, Jack Consenstein was racing as was Woody Martineau (pictured above.) They were, however, out there cheerin' up a storm.

As always, thanks to Jay and Gerry for spending their weekend coaching us and for working their butts off on some wicked fast skis! On the sprint day they boasted a whopping 9 hours out in the cold waxing for 3 skiers!

First Two Carnivals!

The first two carnival weekends have been great successes. We came, we raced, we made funny faces.

Big Bowling Team

Last Monday, the team headed over to the bowling alley in North Adams to shake out the weekend's races and get some quality indoor time.

Lucy and Iz "just psyched to be here"

Ivy and Riiks having a ball
Long-limbed Evan and Emil had some great leverage at the alley

Isaac's outfit change was the key to a 51 point increase from game 1 to game 2

Podium from game 1 (do unbuttoned buttons correlate with bowling success???)

Too bad Marika didn't have a spare spare to spare Evan from some sparse pins.

Thanks for checking in and be sure to catch us at on the live stream of the International Mediocre Bowling Championship later this season!

UNH Carnival Week

It was another solid week for the purple cows at the UNH carnival in Jackson, New Hampshire.  The week was highlighted with skiing with the Bill Kochers at Prospect and sending Braden off to U23 World Championships before traveling on Thursday to the venue.  Friday was a 20k/15k mass start classic race which was highlighted by a number of great performances including PB's for Jack Consenstein and Emil Graf.  There were a lot of hard fought battles on the course and at the end of the day both teams ended up in fifth place.  Saturday was a skate sprint where the men qualified 5 and the women qualified 2 with both teams having teammates just knocking on the door for the top 30.  Unfortunately no one advanced in the heats but maybe that was a blessing in disguise as we made it back to campus just as the big storm was starting to hit.  Next weekend some of the team will be heading to lake placid for the supertour/eastern cup to continue getting more races under their belts.

As always results can be found at Barttiming here:

I will try and upload some pictures from this past week as they trickle in.
