Fall is Finally Here:

After a couple weeks out East the weather is finally starting to change, humidity is dropping along with the temperature. Coming from the West I cant wait to experience my first East Coast fall.

Over the weekend the weather has finally transitioned into feeling more like fall. For our over distance session, temperatures were cold enough at the start to question wearing only a high-vis shirt. As the day warmed up there was always a little hint of cold in the air, leaving us with a reminder of exciting times to come.

"Perfect weather to match a perfect patch of pavement" ...Thinking back on that quote it is essentially the epitome of a nordic skiers thought process... along with the addition of thinking about food

No flexing to be seen here

A view I won't get tired of anytime soon

Another image of the start of the Purple Valley Race, the girls all put down impressive times. The mens Destiny's Canyon team were missing a few of their athletes due sickness but had a great showing as well.

Settling into September

Hello Williams Nordic fans!

Big things are happening here in the Purple Valley.

The girls’ team has been going on some really stellar rollerskis this past week, some hot and humid, others crisp and cool.

Hot and humid day
"Stop. I'm too sweaty."

Crisp, cool, and beautiful!

We ran in a 5k xc race in the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday morning, where we were listed as team “Unattached.” See Perry's post for pictures!

We’ve been refueling in style with a local food night in the cafeteria (salmon! And berries!) and a “Harvest Feast” in Hannah, Hannah, and Tsaina’s common room (fresh baked bread! And more salmon!).

The freshmen are figuring out their favorite places to study as the homework load has started to pick up. As one of my professors told me today, “The honeymoon is over.” But don’t worry. The girls’ team has remained calm, cool, and collected by listening to Sia nonstop.

Purple Valley Classic

This past Saturday, the team participated in the Purple Valley Classic 5k race.  There were some great efforts all around, and some huge PR's!

Eli took 7seconds off of his time last year for 16:26!

Nick dropped 39seconds from last year's time for 17:35!

Evan took off 3seconds to go sub-19' in 18:57!

Hans crushing the freshman boys (in the background)!

Jack and Dylan sprinting for their lives!

Terrible photo, but that's Carmen cruising to second place, and shattering the Nordic Women's record for a time of 19:20!

Tsaina ran the exact same time she did last year for 20:15!

Sonya dropped an entire minute from her time last year!! Whoa!

Sarah Becker took of a whopping 1min53sec from her time two years ago!! Damn girl!

Hannah Benson was in France this time last year, but she was able to shave off 16seconds from her Sophomore year!

Ingrid making her Purple Valley Classic debut!

Lucy coming into the finish for her first Purple Valley 5k!
Nice job team!

And sick shirts by the men's team!! I'm honored, to say the least! Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of them sporting their new Destiny's Canyon tanks...

One week until official practice!

Running through the Mist

On Sunday, the women's team enjoyed a OD run up Mt. Berlin, over Petersburg Pass on the Taconic Crest and down Triple R.  We managed to get lost only once and cover about 20 miles!  We followed the leadership of our fearless captain Hannah Benson.

The team posing on top of Mt. Berlin.  Quite the view.

One of our newest members, Ingrid Thyr, excited about her snack.

Looking forward to many more workouts with this wonderful team!
