2013 SCHNELLSTEIGEN!!!!!
RESULTS ARE IN!!!!
The 2013 SCHNELL was awesome. Cold and a bit breezy with a 34 degree temp at the summit and spitting snow. The new honor roll can be found in the right hand column under "Testing 13-14". Another DETAILED post later this week will explain the new time adjustments of 45 seconds for men and 1 minute for women. A big shout out to our top male and female finishers. Jordan Fields ran the 5th fastest time in history and Olivia Meyerson was 11th on the all time list (Tsaina Mahlen was only 1 second behind and 12th all time).
Here are the team results for the day: (sorry for the formatting....issues with pasting from excel)
WOMEN:
MEN:
Hans Halvorsen 64:28
Joel Bradley (2006 ALUM) 60:43
With all of the training and tough workouts we do I think the finishing 5 minutes of this race is the most painful experience of the entire year. Here are a few pictures from the day and individual shots taken about 1:30 from the finish showing all of our team experiencing the full depth of the "PAIN CAVE". GREAT JOB TEAM AND WAY TO ROCK THE COW!!
Thank you to all the parents in attendance and especially to the Benson family for bringing all of the post-race treats!!! Keep an eye on the blog for pumpkin pics and a Schnell times "de-mystified"post hopefully tomorrow!

Hello from India
Namaste!
I just read the blog post about the Greylock Race and I almost forgot that it's getting close to winter in Williamstown! The temperatures here are still upwards of 80 degrees so seeing the team in jackets and hats was surprising. Everyone looks fit though and I can't wait to catch up/meet everyone in Quebec!
As for me I've been living a very different life here in India. There is no fall foliage or trail runs but rather endless mazes of partially paved roads and cows everywhere. My school is located in Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan, which is a semi-arid state. The city, also known as the Pink City, is home to about 5 million people and has beautiful palaces, temples, forts and other architectural structures. I spent most of the past 2 months in Jaipur but we took 3 trips to other areas in India, my favorite one being to the foot of the Himalayas in the state of Uttarkhand. Currently I am in New Delhi to learn more about urban planning and pollution control and I am envious of the clean, fresh Williamstown air everyone at school gets to breathe!
All in all life here is incredible and it's really hard to explain all the different aspects of the Indian culture but I can't wait to share stories with the team this winter.
I have a little over a month left here and I will be doing an Independent Study Project where I'll get to go to the state of Sikkim, which is nestled between Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. Apparently I'll be able to see the third highest peak in the world from my backyard so I'm really looking forward to that! The weather usually doesn't get very cold in November but I'm hoping that it might be a special year and that some snow will fall!
Good luck to everyone with school and the Schnell and see you all in December!
