Over the river and through the woods . . .
The girls enjoy an easy afternoon ski
Evan, Sam K, Keith, and Robbie walk under the lights of the street lamps after a late afternoon ski
The team follows Bud up the trail to Lock St. Helaire on a warm-up for some tough 4 x 4 intervals.
Maddy gets some shut-eye between ski sessions.
Sam S and Sam K cooking curry ( a messy kitchen indicates tasty results, right?!)
Sam S and Robbie C attempting a dessert that Emily Olsen brought back from New Zealand: chocolate coated cookies which you bite the ends off of, stick in a cup of cocoa, suck cocoa through the cookie, then stuff the melting chocolatey mess into your mouth: YUM!

We have just arrived back to Williamstown after our annual Christmas Camp in Mont St Anne, Quebec. Five double-days of skiing on perfect snow conditions and gorgeous trails ensured that we would arrive home very tired, but very happy!!
Every night was a feast, as the boys team and girls team traded off the job of making dinner for the whole team. We ate like kings: sweet potato soup, grande burritos, coconut curry, sweet pepper chili . . . And the desserts were no less gourmet!
Lots of video and technique sessions in the mornings, followed by snacks, lunch, more snacks and naps, and then a free-ski in the afternoon. We explored the many kilometers of trails and miraculously only had one athlete get lost over the whole five days: After three hours of skiing in circles freshman Kirstin Johnson managed to find a road that led to the highway where she hitchhiked back to the condo and immediately began stuffing large spoonfuls of Nutella into her mouth (some of which came out her nose as I tried to get her on camera and she began laughing!)
On our last day in Quebec the Bates team joined us for a classic time trial. It was cold and sunny blue skies, with firm, perfect tracks. 6km for the women and 12km for the men: rolling terrain with some nice long recovery between made for a perfect way to get the bodies in gear for racing.
Our last night was a fun one, filled with charades, a slide show presented by Emily Olsen (fresh back from a semester in New Zealand), and a snow ball fight against the Bates Team (who cares who won?!)
We were sad, the next morning, to pack up and leave but happy to accumulate so many kilometers of fantastic skiing under our belts before heading into the upcoming college race season. So far, a very Happy New Year for the Williams Ski Team!
