Its all about Specifics
"Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill."
-Muhammad Ali
Specific Strength. Its a tough workout, no one (in their right mind) would add the descriptor "fun". But it is a necessary workout, one that trains those triceps to fire at will.
No one likes to do the things they are bad at, but that is why real racers have to spend time doing things they don't really like. This workout not only trains one to be stronger at the skill, it trains one to be stronger at the "will".
Casey, Phil, Robby, Ian: single stick to the top of the hill. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. . . .
Maddy, Julia: feelin' the tricep burn

Tour de Berkshires: Final Stage takes the Mountain Crown
Though Sarah Tory was also the stage winner of the day, the men's race found a new winner: Ian Nesbitt. Ian showed his teammates what a pursuit really meant, as he moved from sixth place all the way to second, posting the fastest stage time by 32 seconds.
Overall, the Tour was a success, though the attrition rate was high. Due to a viral infection sweeping across campus, only 10 of the team's 19 racers were able to make it to the last stage. Still, the fact that out of 8 stage wins there were 7 different winners means that the team has a lot of competitive depth.
We also had amazing weather for each race, but are now looking forward to colder temperatures and snow flurries!
The Tour Finishers!!!!!!!!!! At the top of Petersburg Pass.
Maddy, Sarah, and Kirsten: ready to pursue and be pursued.
Sarah breaks a pole tip and is given a new pole by Christina, who is getting over a cold and was there as cheer squad/support crew.

Happy Birthday, Ian!!
Ian Nesbitt was a DNF in Thursday's classic race, but made the race up today, having to complete the course in a real time trial against himself and his watch. He clocked an impressive 31:13, and after we added a 30 second handicap to adjust for the warmer temps, his time of 31:43 would have put him in 5th place for stage 2 and places him in 6th overall in the Tour. (I have adjusted the places in the post below)
Way to go, Ian, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
TDB Stage 3: Classic Sprints
Kirsten took first by 3.3 seconds over Maddy and another 3 seconds over Hannah. The top three in the overall tour remain unchanged in the Tour standings: Maddy first by 28 seconds over Sarah Tory, and Kirsten in third.
Robby took Friday's field by 1.4 seconds, Keith coming in second and Casey taking third. Robby now moves into third in the overall Tour, Keith coming in second to Casey by just one second.
The fourth and final stage of the Tour will take place Sunday, pursuit style in intervals according to the overall time back: so whoever reaches the top of Petersburg Pass first will take the Tour!!
