SEWARD -- Cedar Bourgeois of Seward rolled to her fifth consecutive women's title at Mount Marathon today, storming up and down the 3,022-foot peak in an unofficial time of 52 minutes, 11 seconds.
Bourgeois, 32, clocked the sixth-fastest time in women's race history and the second-best time of her career in the race that is just shy of 3 1-2 miles and draws thousands of spectators to this small town nestled against Resurrection Bay.
Holly Brooks of Anchorage finished second in her Mount Marathon debut in 55:29. Last year's runner-up, Nicole DeYong, claimed third in 58:40. Former junior race champion Aubrey Smith, who grew up in Seward, took fourth in 58:57.
