Today was the first day of racing and while our results can definitely be improved upon, we had a lot of fun. Actually the race was more painful then fun, but the experience was great. The course is sort of killer, right out of the start you are climbing and those hills don't let up until 2k in. The first pitch is not only long and steep, but its also a wicked side hill. When you finally reach the top at 2k, the rest is not nearly significant enough and there are more hills coming... If you are trying to imagine how the race felt, imagine something super super painful. That about sums it up. Kirsten had a really solid result and while I personally wasn't really feeling it, we are both looking forward to a day off from racing and then the 15k on Friday. All in all it was a great day of competition and it was fun to toe the line with the best college skiers out there. It was also really fun to watch some of our fellow easterners put up some great results and tromp down on the euros.
This picture says it all. I was feeling pretty tired.
KJ getting ready to tear it up!
Sporting some of our new purchases at the pre-race banquet.
